Tania is now a qualified Diabetes Educator
Grampians Health Edenhope now has a greater scope of diabetes support for the community

We are pleased to announce that Grampians Health Edenhope now has a qualified diabetes educator, who will help individuals with all types of diabetes to manage their condition effectively.
Tania Shepherd became a newly qualified Diabetes Educator recently after receiving a scholarship and completing her studies at the James Cook University.
This qualification recognises Tania's expertise and dedication to helping individuals with diabetes.
As a Diabetes Educator, Tania will work with individuals who have diabetes to help them understand their condition, manage their blood sugar levels, and adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Tania will also provide support to those who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes and help them make lifestyle changes to prevent or delay the onset of the disease.
Tania has undergone extensive training in the field of diabetes management and has demonstrated her talent in providing excellent care and support to individuals with diabetes.
“Never did I think my son’s diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes over 10 years ago would lead me to where I am today,” she said.
“I am looking forward to empowering people with diabetes to live a full healthy happy life. Working with individuals and their families / carers to overcome challenges and improve outcomes is my main goal.
“Being able to access leading specialist via Telehealth from Edenhope is amazing and has made a real difference to health outcomes. Telehealth has been a great addition to the services we access to improve, control and maintain the health of our people.”
Grampians Health Edenhope Primary Health Coordinator Jo Grant congratulated Tania on becoming a diabetes Educator.
“We are so proud that Tania has completed studies in an area that she is so passionate about. The Health & Wellbeing Hub team are very excited about being able to provide another service to our community.
“Her passion for helping people, combined with her knowledge and experience with diabetes, will help us continue to provide exceptional care to our patients.”
