Under the supervision of the General Services manager the Catering Services Department is located at the South end of the services wing and is easily found by following the corridor from Administration and turning right.
The Catering Services Department operates 7 days a week from 6.00am to 6.00pm. Meal times are as follows:
Breakfast: 7.45am
Morning Tea: 9.45am
Lunch: 11.45am
Afternoon Tea: 1.45pm
Tea: 4.45pm
Supper: 7.00pm
The food served in the hospital is produced via the Socamel Cook Chill system.
All meals served in the hospital, hostel and nursing home are of the highest quality with up to 5 hot or 4 cold choices of main course and 4 choices of dessert.
The menu is reviewed regularly by visiting dietitians and found to meet the dietary requirements of older people and the Australian Dietary Guidelines.
Food Services also provides textured modified foods for those who require this service, these may include clients with swallowing difficulties.
Catering Services is committed to providing clients with food that is cooked, chilled, stored and plated in a hygienic and safe manner.
Catering Services is registered as a Class “A” Food Premises and meets, or exceeds all standards of Food Safety as set out in the Food Act 1984. Our kitchen is independently audited annually by Independent External Auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
The Catering Services Department provides Meals on Wheels to the West Wimmera Shire which are distributed by volunteers from Monday to Friday at 11.45am.
Catering Services also supplies meals and goods for private functions.
These include meals for shearers which are served hot and ready for pick up when required.
Salads and cold meats for functions can be supplied.
