Two treadmills, two recumbent bikes and an upright bike were shipped from New South Wales and installed this week.
Edenhope’s Murray to Moyne cycling team funded the project, valued at $25,577.86. Thursday morning’s ‘Wonder Women Workout’ class were first to give the machines a spin, with guidance from Community Health Nurse Cath McDonald.
“This is such an exciting day, I’ve wanted to upgrade and expand this community gym for a long time,” she said. “We now have the latest technology here in Edenhope, which is accessible and safe for all ages and abilities.
“I am busy exploring all of the settings and programs; it’s amazing how far equipment has come.”
Cath offers a list of weekly exercise classes, from yoga and pilates to aerobic and strength training.
On completion of an induction, Grampians Health Edenhope staff members have free access to the re-vamped gym.
“The new equipment is a fantastic addition to our community centre,” said Claire Woods, Chief People Officer, Grampians Health. “It’s wonderful to see the support from the Murray to Moyne cycling team and the positive impact it will have on our community’s health and well-being.
“We are grateful to our Edenhope Murray to Moyne for this donation.”
The Edenhope Murray to Moyne cycling team has been raising funds, for the local health service, since 1991.
The 2025 event is planned for April 5 and 6, with eight cyclists already locked in; each participant will source sponsors and supporters, with all funds injected into Grampians Health Edenhope.
“If you come across any of the Murray to Moyne team members, past or present, be sure to say thank you because this is a gift for the entire community,” Cath said.
“I get to see the physical and mental health benefits firsthand and it’s really a gift of life for many people.”
Grampians Health Edenhope is a one-stop shop for health care in the surrounding community and provides a range of on-site services or hosts visiting services.
