Long term staff members who achieved a work milestone were presented with a service award and gift to recognise and thank them for their contribution to the organisation.
Therese Burgess clocked over an impressive 35 years in the past 12 months, Therese began her work at EDMH in 1986 as a registered nurse. She has served many hours at the hospital, particularly across night shifts. In May 2019, Therese celebrated 50 years since she graduated as a nurse.
Two others to receive a service award for 3 decades with EDMH is CEO, Andrew Saunders and recently retired, Day Centre assistant Estelle Mitchener.
Other recipients were Health Care Worker, Margaret Kelly & District Nurse, Naomi Grigg for 20 years service. Post Acute Care Co-ordinator Kallie Howard for 15 years service along with District Nurse, Danielle Bull and Health Care Worker Lara Rogers for 10 years service.
Along with the service awards our annual Employee of the Year and Cultural Champion were announced.
This year had a particularly large number of nominations which comes from fellow co-workers who recognise staff who put in that extra effort and contribution to the organisation above and beyond their role.

Winner of the 2020-2021 EDMH Employee of the Year was Liz Smith. Liz was nominated for taking on the role of COVID-19 testing, making recommendations to improve the process and working spilt shifts to complete it and cover wards. Liz also dedicates time to upskilling herself, completing the Rural Urgent Care course provided byt the Alfred Hospital and as well as taking advantage of various online education course. Liz is recognised by her co workers for her kindness, willingness to help, and for making the hospital a lovely place to work.
Anna McDonald was awarded Cultural Champion for 2020-2021. Anna is always approachable and prepared for any challenge. Anna has taken on leading roles in the kitchen, provides lots of support to staff and takes on her workload with no complaints. Anna is undertaking an apprenticeship which is an achievement not only for herself but the organisation too. Anna is an invaluable member of the EDMH team who upholds and actively display the values of the organisation.
