Dr Abhishek Verma

Chair of Clinical Governance Committee
Dr Abhishek Verma is currently works full-time in a general medical practice in the outer suburbs of South East Melbourne.

His clinical experience is quite broad, having worked in NSW, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania. He has worked across a variety of medical specialties including emergency departments, surgical units, psychiatric wards, intensive care units and cardiac care units. Abhishek has also worked extensively in both public and private hospital facilities before moving into his current role in primary care.

Presently Abhishek sits on the Victorian Medical Board, to which he was appointed by the State Minister for Health in 2017. He also sits on a number of committees for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP), being on the Victorian Council for the RACGP, the Academic Board of Assessment as well as on the Expert Committee for Standards in General Practice.

Outside of work, Abhishek enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife and two young daughters. He is also a huge cricket fan, enjoys over-consumption of gourmet foods, and is guilty of “talking shop” with his two younger brothers on weekends, who are also both doctors.

Abhishek has experience in clinical governance, patient engagement and health promotion activities that he brings to the EDMH Board.

Moving forward Abhishek would like to see EDMH as a financially robust clinical service that provides top-quality, accessible care for the people it serves in addition to delivering on the strategic vision of the health service.
