Urgent Care Centre

The Urgent Care department of the Edenhope & District Memorial Hospital is open 24 hours a day—7 days per week.

It can be accessed through the front door until 9.00 pm. After 9.00 pm the Hospital is locked.

Entry after 9.00 pm is by an emergency buzzer at the front door.

The Urgent Care Centre is staffed by trained Nurses from the hospital 24 hours a day.

People presenting to the Urgent Care Department are triaged by a registered nurse who will determine your medical needs. The nurse will contact the doctor if deemed necessary.

All levels of urgent care are given in the department. Once initial care and stabilisation has been attended then decisions are made as to the most appropriate place for patients to receive ongoing care. Transfers to other specialised hospitals are then arranged.

In the event that patients do not require urgent or emergency nursing or medical assistance, an appointment should be arranged with a general practitioner during business hours at the Edenhope Hospital Medical Clinic  on Lake Street, or their local GP.

Please note that Urgent Care should only be utilised for emergencies, it is not an alternative to making an appointment with your GP.

The Edenhope Hospital Medical Clinic - located on Lake St or Edenhope Medical Clinic in Elizabeth Street is accessible for non-emergency consultations. Business hours Monday—Friday 9am - 5pm.

It is advisable and only if possible to notify the Hospital on 5585 9800 if you are coming in or bringing a patient in to Urgent Care.

If the condition is serious please call 000 for an ambulance.

If you are concerned about a health issue outside business hours contact the Nurse on Call helpline 1300 606 024 which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a free and confidential phone service which provides users with health advice from a registered nurse.
