Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Aged Care

Full Time Position

A newly created position of Associate Nurse Unit Manager - Aged Care, will provide senior clinical support to the Aged Care Nurse Unit Manager, across two facilities.

Excellent clinical skills, effective team leadership, communication and collaboration are essential for this position. 

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager and Director of Nursing, this is a leadership position in the Aged Care division.


Associate Aged Care Nurse Unit Manager responsibilities include:
  • Providing clinical nursing care and working with Nurse Unit Managers, registered nurses and enrolled nurses to ensure efficient management of clinical practice
  • Utilise principles and strategies of Adult Learning in the provision of education and support to health service personnel at unit / departmental level.
  • Plan, perform, facilitates and evaluates delivery of patient care with the Graduate Registered Nurses.
  • Assist the Nurse Unit Manager and the Director of Nursing in program/policy development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Assists the Nurse Educator in implementing and reviewing standards, policies and procedures, training requirements.
  • Relieves the Nurse Unit Manager or After Hours Co-ordinator, as required.
  • Maintains safe nursing practice and working environment.
  • Promotes patient advocacy.
  • Nominates for, or participates in, working parties and/or clinical and quality review programs.
  • Participates in and supports review and implementation of change for best practice initiatives, benchmarking and improved productivity.
  • Initiates and/or participates in Quality Improvement activities.
  • Demonstrates sound ethics and is accountable for own practice.
  • Works within governing legislation and Edenhope & District Memorial Hospital’s (EDMH) policies and procedures.

Edenhope and District Memorial Hospital (EDMH) employs people who provide compassionate and holistic care through our acute hospital, urgent care and aged care facilities, primary health, general practice and district nursing services.  EDMH is a 60 bed rural hospital with 20 acute beds, urgent care, 18 nursing home and 22 hostel residential beds. 

Edenhope is located 30km east of the border with South Australia or 93km west of Horsham and is close to an array of tourist attractions, fishing and water sports in local lakes.  We are located in the Shire of West Wimmera region of western Victoria close to the Mount Arapiles and Grampians National Parks and the Coonawarra wine region near Mount Gambier.
