A feature-length documentary that follows a community in Australia who came together to explore and demonstrate a simpler way to live in response to global crises. Throughout the year the group build tiny houses, plant veggie gardens, practice simple living, and discover the challenges of living in community. This film is the product of hours and hours of footage that I shot during that year-long experiment in simple living.

About Red and Pink Hatters:

Red Hat and Pink Hat ladies love to get together for fun times. There are two main criteria – you need to wear your colours, plus be prepared to have FUN!

Red and Pink hatters groups connects, supports and encourages women in their pursuit of fun, friendship, freedom, fulfilment and fitness.

The Red Hat Society (RHS) is the largest International women’s social club – whose focus is on living life to the fullest, having fun and not ‘acting your age’. Hatters hold events ranging from picnics and coffee mornings, to whatever they want to do to enjoy themselves!

  • Women over 50 years of age dress in the distinctive purple clothing and red hats and are known as “Red Hatters”
  • Women under 50 dress in lavender and pink hats and known as “Pink Hatters” (until they REDuate!).

Why a playgroup particularly for working women in our area?

Most women give their all to career, family, and community. And they enjoy it. But, along the way, sometimes our existing bonds of friendship gradually diminish. Membership in the Red Hat Society is a rewarding vehicle for reconnecting old friends, making new friends and rediscovering the joy of getting together with other woman for the express purpose of… having FUN! We whole-heartedly promote periods of "recess" from the cares and duties of everyday life in which Hatters gather for no other purpose than to play. Social Connection is vital to maintain our Health and Wellbeing!
